Katsina State Government Presents Appointment and Admission Letters for Newly Established Model Secondary Schools in Radda, Jikamshi and Dumurkul.

The Katsina State Government, through the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education has formally presented Letters of Appointment to newly recruited Academic and Non-Academic staff, alongside Admission Letters to successful students of the newly established Model Secondary Schools in Radda, Dumurkul, and Jikamshi, marking a significant milestone in the state’s ongoing education reform agenda.

The presentation ceremony, held at the Radda Special School Assembly Hall, underscores the commitment of the administration of His Excellency, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, PhD, CON, to improving access, quality, and standards in secondary education across Katsina State.

Performing the official presentation, the Honourable Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Hon. Yusuf Sulaiman Jibia, congratulated the newly appointed staff and admitted students, describing the initiative as a strategic investment in the future of the state. He urged the staff to approach their responsibilities with dedication, professionalism, discipline, and teamwork, emphasizing that their recruitment was conducted strictly on merit.

According to the Commissioner, the success of the Model Secondary Schools will depend largely on the competence and commitment of the staff, whom he described as pioneers entrusted with the responsibility of setting high academic and administrative standards. He noted that the schools were deliberately designed to serve as centres of excellence and reference models for other public secondary schools in Katsina State.

Hon. Jibia further disclosed that the admitted students were drawn from public primary schools across all the 360 political wards of the state, reflecting the inclusive and equitable nature of the admission process. He explained that this approach aligns with the state government’s commitment to fairness and equal educational opportunities for children, irrespective of their geographical or socio-economic background.

Reaffirming the vision of the present administration, the Commissioner reiterated the unwavering commitment of Governor Dikko Umaru Radda to the revitalisation of the education sector. He revealed that the 2026 budget makes provisions for the renovation of 74 Senior and Junior Secondary Schools across the state, in addition to other basic education interventions aimed at improving infrastructure, enhancing learning outcomes, and restoring excellence in public education.

Earlier, in her welcome address, the Chief Consultant of Hallmark Consultancy Firm, Hajiya Zainab Bugaje Jika, described the establishment of the model schools as a clear demonstration of the Governor’s vision for special schools tailored to meet the diverse learning needs of children. She highlighted the transparent and rigorous processes adopted in the selection of students through competitive entrance examinations, as well as the recruitment of teachers through public advertisements, an online application portal, Computer-Based Tests (CBT), and physical interviews.

Hajiya Zainab expressed confidence that a competent, committed, and well-qualified workforce has been assembled to drive the vision of the model schools and ensure their sustainable success.

Also speaking at the event, the Chairman of the Teachers Service Board (TSB), Alhaji Sada Ibrahim (Chigarin Dutsinma), charged the newly employed teachers to give their best in fulfilling the educational aspirations of the present administration. He assured both Academic and Non-Academic staff of the Board’s continuous support, particularly in the areas of welfare and professional development.

On behalf of the host community, the Bare-Bari of Radda, Alhaji Kabir Umar Bare-Bari, expressed deep appreciation to the Executive Governor for siting a Model Secondary School in Radda. He described the project as a source of pride for the community and urged the teachers to consider the town as their home while maintaining cordial relationships with residents.

In a vote of thanks, the Principal of Radda Model Special School, Dr. Lawal Shehu, described the occasion as a historic milestone in Katsina State’s civil service and education sector. He disclosed that over 250 staff had received appointment letters to serve in the newly established model schools, stressing that the appointments come with a responsibility to uphold discipline, hard work, and unwavering commitment to effective teaching and learning.

Dr. Lawal reaffirmed the collective resolve of the staff to justify the confidence reposed in them and to deliver measurable results. He commended the transparent and merit-based recruitment process, describing it as one of the most credible in the state’s history, and expressed appreciation to His Excellency, the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, Hallmark Education Consultant Services, and AGILE Katsina for their support and guidance.

Dignitaries in attendance included the Special Adviser on Education, Hon. Nura Saleh Katsayal; the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Hajiya Ummulkhair Ahmed Bawa Faskari; the Executive Chairman of SUBEB, Dr. Kabir Magaji Gafiya; the representative of the ALGON Chairman and Chairman of Bindawa Local Government Council, Alhaji Badaru Musa Giremawa; as well as Directors of the Ministry and other key stakeholders.
