The Executive Governor of Katsina State, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has donated an 18-seater bus to the Correspondents’ Chapel to strengthen media practice and support effective information dissemination across the state.

The Governor made the presentation at the Government House, Katsina, where he reaffirmed his administration’s recognition of the critical role journalists play in promoting good governance, transparency and public enlightenment.

“I am delighted to present this 18-seater bus to the Correspondents’ Chapel as part of our administration’s commitment to strengthening information dissemination across Katsina State,” Governor Radda said.

“The responsibility of every responsive government is not only to implement policies and programmes but also to ensure that citizens are adequately informed. The media serves as a vital bridge between the government and the people by communicating accurate and timely information,” he added.

Governor Radda described responsible journalism as an indispensable pillar of democratic governance, noting that professional, objective and constructive reporting promotes accountability, transparency and informed decision-making.

“Journalism plays a crucial role in promoting good governance. Through constructive reporting, diverse opinions and responsible public discourse, the media contributes to accountability, transparency and informed decision-making,” he stated.

The Governor urged journalists to continue upholding professionalism, fairness and objectivity, particularly at a time when the nation is facing social, economic and developmental challenges.

“At this critical period, the role of journalists in educating the public, promoting unity and discouraging misinformation has become even more important. I therefore urge members of the Correspondents’ Chapel to continue to uphold professionalism, fairness and objectivity,” he said.

Governor Radda also wished members of the Chapel continued unity, success and greater accomplishments in their professional responsibilities.

Earlier, the Head of the Civil Service, Alhaji Falalu Bawale, said the 18-seater bus fulfilled Governor Radda’s earlier approval to support the Correspondents’ Chapel in carrying out its professional responsibilities.

“The Governor approved the request in recognition of the vital role journalists play in disseminating accurate information, promoting public enlightenment and supporting good governance across Katsina State,” Bawale said.

Responding, the Chairman of the Correspondents’ Chapel, Yusuf Ibrahim Jargaba, thanked Governor Radda for the gesture, describing it as a demonstration of the administration’s support for the media.

“Your Excellency, on behalf of all members of the Correspondents’ Chapel, I sincerely thank you for this generous gesture. This 18-seater bus will greatly enhance our ability to carry out our professional responsibilities,” he said.

Jargaba assured the Governor of the Chapel’s continued commitment to responsible and balanced coverage of government activities across the state.

“Wherever your official activities take you, we will continue to follow and report them diligently. We remain committed to ensuring that the people of Katsina State are adequately informed,” he stated.

He also commended Governor Radda for recognising the strategic role of the media in promoting transparency, accountability and democratic governance.

The Chapel Chairman concluded by praying for Governor Radda and for the continued peace, progress and development of Katsina State.
