Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has been nominated for the “Education Reformer Governor of the Year 2025” award by Independent Newspapers Limited.

The award ceremony is scheduled to hold on April 18, 2026, at the Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.

The organisers noted that the nomination is part of a process that recognises outstanding individuals and organisations across 25 categories for exceptional performance in 2025.

They stated that Governor Radda’s nomination reflects his “exceptional leadership and bold, multidimensional reforms aimed at improving the living conditions of the people,” with particular emphasis on education.

According to the Board, the Governor’s decision to allocate over 25 percent of the state’s budget to education has significantly strengthened the sector.

“This intervention led to the recruitment of over 7,000 S-Power teachers, the renovation of more than 150 primary schools, and the construction of 75 new secondary schools in partnership with the World Bank-supported AGILE project,” the organisers disclosed.

The organisers further noted that the nomination also reflects the administration’s commitment to social welfare and economic empowerment.

“The approval of over N21 billion for the settlement of retirement and death gratuities has restored dignity to thousands of retirees,” they added.

They also highlighted that the Katsina State Enterprises Development Agency (KASEDA) is providing loans and grants to small-scale entrepreneurs and rural women, thereby strengthening economic inclusion across the state.
